Hello again guys! I really must come up with a more unique greeting for you all 🙂
Today I am reviewing some lip products, which you have no doubt heard of by now. They are the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsticks. What is different about this review? Well! You may or may not know that there are now a total of 8 shades available as opposed to the original 6 which you could pick up in Boots.
I picked up the new shades and wanted to let you know my thoughts 😀
To get us started, I thought I would go ahead and show you the two original shades I picked up. I debated long and hard on whether or not to get theses. The shade range really wasn’t to my taste initially, a bit too vibrant! However, after seeing so many people sporting these beauties on their gobs, they started to grow on me 🙂
Pardon the dodgy glue marks on the tube! The first shade I picked up was Peach Club. This is a gorgeous peachy orange tone, as the name would suggest. This was the one I wanted from the start but it swatched quite orange in store so I hesitated for awhile.
Next one was Frambourjoise and the name once again gives away so much 🙂 It is a lovely pink raspberry shade and a total departure from what I would normally wear! However, it really is a beaut and I find it is the most long lasting, of the ones I have picked up.
Now onto the bonus shades! First up is Grand Cru. This called my name the second I spotted it. It is a gorgeous, deep vampy red and I am in love. If Steve (Mr Polished), ever decided to take me to dinner somewhere extra special, this is the lippie I would reach for. I just fell a little bit more glamourous with it on!
Last but not least, is the shade Nudist. You may have spotted this in my recent Face Of The Day post. This is most definitely my favourite and has seen the most use since I got it. It is the most beautiful pinky, rose nude I have seen in a long time.
So what did I think of them? Well, I have heard the world and their mother say that they last all day, and are not at all drying on the lips.
I am not sure I would agree with that! I found that as soon as I ate or drank something, they began to rub off. However, while the colour is then reduced, it still looks like you have something on your lips and I doubt anyone will be able to tell that it has worn off much if they did not see it before you ate. Some of them seem to rub off more easily than others, and as I said above, Frambourjoise was the longest lasting for me.
In regards to not being drying, I’m not sure I agree with that either! While it is setting to it’s matte finish at the beginning, you do feel a tightening and while I do not have dry lips normally, it did seem to find every crack and line it possibly could to get into.
I love a matte lip, but I also love a soft and smooth looking lip. These just highlight the lines a bit more than I would like, but that is more a case of personal preference.
Overall, I am pretty happy with these and definitely think they would be good for a night out or an event. You don’t have to worry about ending up with a ring of colour around your lips or completely bare lips at the end of the night. They will leave a stain on your lips for at least 4 hours before needing any touching up at all.
Originally, I could only find these shades on the Littlewoods website and that is wherever I picked up. You can now get them from Boots as well, which is great! Littlewoods is just a little bit cheaper though 😉
They are €12.49 from Boots and €12 from Littlewoods
So have you guys tried any of these yet? Did you find them drying? Let me know which shades you have in the comments below!! 🙂
Until next time!
