Hello again guys! If you watch my YouTube channel you may remember, a few weeks ago I picked up my very first Lush bath bombs.
It was hard deciding which to use first, but I finally settled on the Sakura Bath Bomb! As I had never tried one of these before, but have heard so much about Lush bath bombs, I was expecting BIG THINGS!!
To start off, I should probably explain why I am so very late to the Lush “game” as it were 🙂 I have tried on several occasions to browse around the store and find something I liked, but I just find all the intermingled smells a bit too overpowering! I was also hesitant to order online without knowing what each one would smell like.
I finally bit the bullet though and picked up 3 different bath bombs a few weeks ago! The first of which is the Sakura Bath Bomb.
So last Sunday I ran myself a bath and got ready to experience the phenomenon that is a Lush bath bomb. I have heard talk that some people find the Sakura to be too mildly scented and some find it to be extremely strong. I definitely headed up with the very generously scented one it seems!
The fragrance is incredibly floral. If you like a flowery, powdery scent then you may well love this. It was inspired by Japanese Cherry Blossoms and contains jasmine oil, lemon oil, orange flower and mimosa. To be honest, to me it just smelt like a generic floral and there was no way to distinguish what was in it. I hadn’t expected it to be quite so strong and the smell definitely lingered in our bathroom for hours after I was done with it.
I’m not going to lie, I already knew this one was a risk as florals are rarely my favourite. However, I really could not help but purchase it! JUST LOOK AT IT. It is a gorgeous mix of colours and very pleasing to the eye which is what drew me in when ordering online.
When I added it to the water, I have to say I was a bit disappointed though. I love reading Lush reviews and seeing the amazing colours that the bath bombs can turn the water! I thought that was all part of the fun! Unfortunately, it seems I went for an option which was slightly too pale and all it did was make the water cloudy at best. Sad face 🙁
I did enjoy the fizzing though! As you can see above, I had to be cheeky and pick up the bath bomb halfway through to feel the fizz for myself. This was probably my favourite part haha!
When it had fully dissolved, I hopped in the bath and settled down to watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. No, I do not have a telly in the bathroom, I just set my laptop up on top of the laundry basket 😀 A bath is meant to be time to relax after all so I thought it was the perfect time to catch up on some girly programming.
About halfway through the episode, I have to say I was getting pretty bored of my little bath… No bubbles and no brightly coloured water make for a very dull time in my opinion! But I persevered and boy am I glad I did 🙂
By the time I got out of the bath, I was sure Lush bath bombs were not for me. Then the strangest thing happened! I became incredibly relaxed. I was really struggling to keep my eyes open and it was the best feeling. I had really thought that the relaxing part would happen while in the bath so when it didn’t I wasn’t expecting anything!
I was glad to find that the floral scent did not stick to my skin in anyway which probably would have given me a headache when trying to sleep. Another plus!
Overall, I would say I was pretty surprised at how much I ended up liking this bath bomb. Although the scent was not to my personal taste, it definitely does have a relaxing and calming effect which is exactly what I was looking for. If it can help me get a good nights sleep, I think I can get over the fact that the water didn’t turn a fun colour! 😀
I think I have caught the Lush bug and give the Sakura Bath Bomb 4 out of 5!!!
I may even repurchase this one in the future, but first I need to use up the two I have left!
