I am sure by now, you have already heard of the innovation that is iNailz 🙂 If you haven’t though, you definitely need to.
I was recently asked by Angie from Blush if I wanted to try it out. I jumped at the chance and today I get to tell you guys all about it!
I first heard about the magic of iNailz over on Lovely Girlie Bits and since then, I seem to be seeing them everywhere! So what exactly are iNailz I hear you ask?
Basically, iNailz are digitally printed nail art! You can either get images printed on a set of false nails, or do what I did and get it printed directly onto your own nails.
Above is the printer in all it’s glory 🙂 Why is this so great? Well, because the options are pretty much unlimited! An iNailz printer comes preloaded with literally thousands of images to choose from and all the images are available in an assortment of colours. The most exciting part though, is that you can choose an image of your own to get printed on your nails! It can be anything you like!
Whether you want to have a picture of your favourite One Directioner on there, your favourite Disney Princess or even your own face, you can do it! The possibilities are endless and making your decision is the hardest part. The rest is easy! The printers even have an integrated camera if you wanted to take a “selfie” and turn it into nail art! They have really thought of everything 😀
After seeing quite a few people get their own iNailz sets made, I was fascinated to know how it would feel to get it printed directly onto my own nail. So I headed to Blush Nail Bar in Winthrop Arcade to find out!
I was met by the lovely Tracey who showed me the printer and talked me through all the options. She showed me how they make the false nail sets and everything that comes with them. If you order a set, your pack comes with 20 nails inside so you actually get 2 full sets. The pack also includes a nail file, nail glue and double sided sticky dots. The nails are reusable and can last quite awhile if you take good care of them, just like regular false nails 🙂
They are also suitable for kids as you can use the sticky dots instead of the glue and file the nails down to size. I can image these being a big hit with little girls for themed birthday parties! At just €15 a set they are also an absolute bargain when you consider the fact that you can have an entirely customized and unique design that you can’t get anywhere else!
Once I had finally settled on a blue butterfly design, it was time to get my nails done! I decided to get the iNailz on each ring finger and go for a mint colour on my rest of my nails. Tracey applied a base of white shellac polish on each ring finger as a backdrop for the design. This ensures all the details of the image really stand out!
When my shellac was all done, it was time to pop my hand in the printer! Tracey applied a clear UV layer to my nail so the printer would know where to print and put a blue plaster like piece of material around the nail so no ink would get on my finger. I then popped my finger in the printer and it was locked in place to make sure I wouldn’t move and mess up the design! This isn’t as scary as it sounded and just felt like someone was holding onto my finger 🙂
I expected to feel the machine printing onto my nail, but I literally couldn’t feel a thing! On the screen you can see your finger inside the machine and once you have it all lined up, you just click OK and the printing begins. You can see your nail on the screen the entire time and before you know it, it is done! It only takes 60 seconds per nail so for me it was just a total of 2 minutes which is amazing. If I wanted the kind of detail normally and was getting the nail art done by hand, can you imagine how much longer it would take?
Above are my nails once they were done, and you can see that little plaster like barrier I had mentioned 🙂 After waiting a few seconds to be sure everything was dry, Tracey removed the barrier and applied a shellac topcoat. And that was it! All done 😀
Here is the finished product! I am absolutely delighted with how it turned out and think I will definitely have to have this done again! After seeing all the images available to choose from, there are a whole bunch of others I want to try out 🙂
I love the way the butterfly came out and the blue and white contrast reminds me of fine china 🙂 It is such a dainty look and perfect for spring.
How long the design will last is dependant on what kind of polish you get. Mine will last as long as normal shellac as that is the option I went for, but you can also get the design done on regular polish if you so choose. At just €2.50 per nail or €15 for a full set, it is a great price for such a great finish and so much detail 🙂
