A Day In The Life

A Day In The Life: #LetsTalkBlogChallenge

Last week, I signed up for the #LetsTalkBlogChallenge. It is the brainchild of the lovely Sarah Hamersley of At The Beauty Desk, and today is day one!

For the next 6 weeks, a whole bunch of awesome bloggers will be writing a #LetsTalkBlogChallenge post for you all to check out and enjoy, Monday evenings at 8pm :). Each week will feature a different type of post so stayed tuned to see what we will be talking about!

First up though, is A Day In The Life post, so let’s get cracking!

When I heard that the first post was supposed to be A Day In The Life style post, I have to say I was a bit nervous. You may have noticed that I was missing from the blogosphere for a few months recently.

I won’t go into too much detail right now but basically, I have only ventured out of the house a total of 3 times since Christmas. Twice for doctors appointments and once for the post you are about to see. If I was to post about a typical day in my life, all you would see is pictures of me hiding under the bed covers and sleeping for about 13 hours. More on that another time though.

So I may have cheated a little by not posting about a regular day in my life but I didn’t want to bore you all that much!

a day in the life a day in the life

My day began with some toast, a cup of tea and catching up on YouTube videos. How exciting!

a day in the life

Next, I decided it was time to write a blog post! Something I have not done enough of, which I hope to change in the future!

Then it was time to get my face on. If I look a little tired in the above photo, please excuse me! Also, I have no idea what it is I was looking at, but it certainly wasn’t the camera haha!

After I had gotten ready, Steve helped me take some pictures for an OOTD post, which you may have already seen. It was then time to hop on the bus into town on our adventure!

I should point out that this was at least 7 hours after that tea and toast! This should give you an idea of how long it takes me get motivated to get up and move about.

After about 20 minutes and a little stroll, we arrived at our destination! The lovely Cork City Hall for the Jameson Cult Film Club.

Neither Steve nor I had been to one of these events before, but we were pretty excited! The club is free if you can manage to score tickets and the movie on the night was The Usual Suspects. Such a good movie, which you must watch if you haven’t seen it! The area where the seats were laid out had been set up to look like the pier that a lot of the movie takes place on. What a cool idea!

a day in the life a day in the life

With the Jameson Cult Film Club, the location is kept secret until you get your invitation and the atmosphere is amazing. As you can see above, some sets from the movie are actually recreated on the night so you feel totally immersed in the film! They also use actors to act out parts of the film live at random points, so don’t be surprised if some dudes with guns suddenly run at you mid movie! It’s all part of the experience :).

a day in the life a day in the life

As well as a free movie, you also get free food and free drinks, much to Steve’s delight! The food was a Kobayashi burger which was pretty tasty. You will get the reference if you’ve seen the movie ;). To drink, there was some Jameson, ginger and lime but I didn’t actually partake in those. Steve tells me they were damn tasty though and he may order some next time he is out!

066 A Day In The Life

All in all, it was a pretty amazing night and we will definitely be attending another Jameson event in future if we manage to get our hands on some tickets! On the way home, I took a picture of the City Hall all lit up at night and a picture of a little cherry blossom tree we found :). So pretty!

And that was the end of that! Not very exciting for some perhaps, but we had a great time :D.

Be sure to stay tuned for the rest of the Monday posts for the next few weeks, and check out the #LetsTalkBlogChallenge on Twitter, Mondays at 8pm for everyone else’s posts!!

Until next time!

On a side note, if you suffer from depression or anxiety, please make the effort to tell someone. A friend, family member, co-worker, doctor, neighbour, anybody. Just tell someone who you think can help. It took me years longer than it should have but I am now finally getting the help I need. Please don’t wait for it to get as bad as I did! xxx

  • Aishling (@fluffyVW) April 28, 2014 at 8:45 pm

Firstly I want to say I hope you’re doing ok. I also suffer from anxiety and depression and its not so nice. Secondly, I want to steal that Star Trek mug from you! 😀
That photo of Steve is hilarious! When I take photos of my boyfriend he always makes funny poses too! 😛
So jealous you got to see The Usual Suspects on the big screen! Such an awesome movie. I love how the film club made it look like the film! I never knew that! I have to go sometime 🙂

That photo of the cherry blossom tree is so lovely!

    • polishedandprimed@gmail.com April 28, 2014 at 10:04 pm

This week has been my best in awhile but this has been going on for about 8 years so taking each day as it comes! It is hard to deal with and crazy how many of us go through it. Hope you’re doing ok xxx

I can’t even remember where that mug is from, I have it so long! But I love it and I won’t drink out of any other one haha!

Men are awful for posing. So vain :). They are worse than us women, I swear! Yeah it was so cool on the big screen and it’s such a good film. I was surprised some people their had never seen it! One girl in the queue going in asked if it was a comedy….

Looking forward to seeing the rest from yourself and Kerrie! So glad ye are both doing it! 😀

      • Aishling (@fluffyVW) April 29, 2014 at 12:17 am

That is a long time to be dealing with it. I’m doing the same, well trying to just take each day as it comes. It is amazing how many people have similar problems but some are better at hiding it I think. I’m doing ok thanks you 🙂

I will find it somewhere hehe! I have a mug I only drink from as well! I got it really cheap in Dealz! It has a monster on it! Like the Loch Ness Monster!

LOL! Well it does have some funny bits! 😀

        Thanks again!

        • polishedandprimed@gmail.com April 29, 2014 at 7:47 pm

I used to be great at hiding it but it has gotten too bad to hide. Glad to hear you are doing ok. If you want to have a chat about it any time, you can send me a Facebook message anyway 🙂 xx

I never think of looking in Dealz for things like that! Whenever I’ve been in there, I normally head straight for the cheap sweets haha!
