This morning my 5th Glossybox arrived in the post. I had big expectations after last months fiasco.
“Dark Romance” just had me envisioning something amazing, which it didn’t deliver. However, “The Glossy Wishlist” has left me with no idea what to expect which seems to have worked out for the best!!
So what is the Glossybox November 2013 offering?
Once again, I have received a box that is mostly skin care related which the addition of a small few makeup bits. This month, I was very happy to see 2 full size skincare items which I would definitely use at this time of year!!
Scholl Dry Skin Exfoliator Skin Care
Let’s start with the least pretty or glamourous item shall we? Anything feet related normally makes me extremely uncomfortable, like those ads for Pedi Eggs and the like. But boot season is now upon us (YAY!!!) and we all know this can lead to dry skin issues on the feet.
When Christmas party season arrives though, we will want to slip back into our strappy and sparkly heels so dry skin just will not do! I am very excited to try this out as if my feet are ever anything other than soft and smooth, I’m not at all happy!
You can pick this up in Boots for €5.49/£4.49
Yves Rocher France Hand Cream
Oh my. If you love Terry’s Chocolate Orange then you will fall in love with this instantly. This is a Cocoa and Orange hand cream. Need I say more?
This is probably the most delicious smelling hand cream I now own, but which such a distinct scent it may not be for everyone. This time of year though, with the cold weather calling for gloves, dry skin on the hands can be an issue for many, including myself. I have quite a few hand creams already but this is so far a welcome addition!! If I run out, it also seems to be quite a cheap item to pick up again so here is hoping it does the trick :).
They also do a Cocoa and Pistachio or a Cocoa and Raspberry if that is more to your liking!
You can pick this up from the Yves Rocher website for just £1.95
Vichy Idealia Life Serum
Next up were some samples from Vichy. I must say, samples don’t bother me as much in a Glossybox when they come from a brand that are already well known and when they also happen to be presented in a pretty reusable little pouch!
I received 2 samples of the Idealia Life Serum and 1 sample of the Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream for normal to combination skin. They also have a dry skin formulation of this in the range but the Life Serum itself suits all skin types including sensitive skin.
The serum is intended to make the skin look healthy and even out your skin tone. It apparently hides the visible effects of stress, smoke, pollution and unbalanced diet on the skin. Unbalanced diet? For some reason I thought this was a strange thing for them to mention. Is it just me or is that weird and not really promoting healthy lifestyle? I realise that is not their job but I still found this strange!
The smoothing and illuminating cream is not mentioned at all in the little pamphlet you receive with your box so I was left to discover it’s purpose myself. The name pretty much explains it though. It is intended to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and improve texture and radiance. We shall see!
Emite Make Up Micronized Eyeshadow in Dams
Emite is a range I have heard of before but only through Glossybox so do not know much about this. A good black matte shadow is never an easy thing to find so I thought this was quite a brave thing for them to send in a Glossybox! I was surprised at how silky and soft it felt when I went to swatch it and how pigmented it really was.
This most definitely be seeing some use for a smokey eye and I think I may have to check out the brand a bit more. I must say for a brand I am not too familiar with, I was a bit shocked at the price of this though. If you are going to charge more than MAC for a shadow, it better be out of this world. Not sure if that is the case with this just yet. The packaging feels quite cheap but the pigmentation is definitely there so we shall see!
These shadows are oil, nickel and paraben free and they say are perfect for those with sensitive eyes. If it turns out well, I may order a few more of these to try out and possibly add to my kit! They have some gorgeous shades on the site.
This is available from the Emite website and will set you back €19
Here I have swatched the above eyeshadow with NO primer next to the grey eyeliner from below.
B. Smokey Soft Blendable Kohl Eyeliner
This is a brand I have been hearing a lot about in the past few days over on Twitter. It seems they have a whole host of products available from Superdrug that people are going crazy for. Everything from nail polish to primers.
The eyeliner I received is the grey shade and I normally prefer a grey to a black eyeliner for a smokey eye so this could come in handy. It is an extremely dark grey which you may notice from the swatch above but it does make a difference. I am actually surprised this wasn’t included last month along with the eyeshadow! It would have made more sense really.
I like the quality of this and the dark grey is quite a nice colour. The smudger end has a slightly pointed tip and rounded edges which I like as opposed to a completely rounded smudger like The Body Shop ones. I found the cap on the smudger end really difficult to remove but hopefully it will loosen after a few uses.
So far, I like this and will try it out with the black shadow a little later on 🙂
It is available exclusively at Superdrug for £4.49
All in all, this months Glossybox is a step up from last months and I am happy with pretty much all of the items! I won’t be unsubscribing just yet it seems :).
If you would like to pick up your own Glossybox, you can do so here for €12.95 a month.
Are you already subscribed? Let me know in the comments what you thought of this months box!! 🙂
Until next time!
