Glossybox October 2013 – Dark Romance

So today I received my 4th Glossybox in the post. The 1st one I received was July’s Seaside Splash which I reviewed on my YouTube channel. You can check that out here if you like! This month sees the turn of the Dark Romance box.

Hmmmm….

Now I fully understand that the Glossybox allows you to sample products you may not normally try. In my experience however, previous boxes have contained at least one largeish (not a word? Oh well!) product. This month seems to be an exception.

As you can see above, everything in my box (chuckle) is quite small. To be honest, when I opened it I was a little surprised at all the room that was left over. But that is the joy and misery of mystery boxes. Not a clue what you will get!

First up were two Vita Liberata samples of the Illuminating Skin Finish in Latte from the Capture the Light collection. This is basically a bronzing product you can use on your face, or legs, arms or whatever. It also contains SPF 15. Looking at their site, Latte seems to be the darkest item in the Capture the Light range so it may not suit as pale a chick as me. I am about the same shade of white as the packet. I may have been better suited to Latte Light but we shall see!

It doesn’t look like I’ll be able to bronze much of my bod with these samples but I won’t know til I try I suppose :).

Next up is a slightly grubby Unica sample of Kiss It Better Cream. It seems the black tissue paper in the box and the glue on this little tub got a bit close and personal while in transport. This has left a lovely furry coating on the container. Cheers lads.

This is an organic cream for those with sensitive and eczema prone skin. It says it can also be as a moisturiser under your makeup. The version I have is Lavender and Chamomile scented, however there is an unscented option for those sensitive to it and pregnant women. As it can be used on children under 3, I can see how this could come in handy for the whole family if any of you suffer from eczema or psoriasis.

Here we have a MONU Illuminating Primer, again with SPF 15. Last month some of us will have noticed our Glossyboxes arrived much later than usual. As a result I believe most of us were sent some additional samples. Mine included a MONU Hydrating Clay Mask which unfortunately did not agree with my rosacea as many clay masks don’t. However, I will still go ahead and give this item a go in the hope it treats my skin a bit better :).

This primer is paraben free and is supposed to protect against sun damage and prevent premature aging. Wonderful! But it smells like a certain lemon kitchen cleaning product… Which kind of puts me off rubbing it all over my face. I will take one for the team though! This can be used under foundation, tinted moisturiser or just on it’s own to give the skin a lovely glow.

Now this is the item I am probably most interesting in trying. It is the Premae Harmony Moisturising Smoothie Serum. A smoothie. For your face. Kind of… Premae say on their website that they are “The Worlds 1st Allergen-Free Beauty Brand”. Sounds good to me!

This can be used day and night to prep before your moisturiser or foundation. It also can be mixed with your foundation to create your own shine control BB cream. Nice!! This stuff will normally set you back €27 euro for a 50ml so a 20ml sample isn’t bad at all really. I shall be trying this before my foundation to even out redness on my face and shall let you know how it goes! 🙂

Finally there is the MeMeMe Cherub’s Blush. This is a lip and cheek tint that comes with a little brush applicator. Looks just like a very watery nail polish really! I believe this is the only full size item in the box and will normally set you back €6 euro or so. I have seen several MeMeMe items in the shops that I was interested to try so I have quite high hopes for this. Once again though, the scent has slightly put me off. It smells like roses and talc. Or potpourri. But I will still give it a go!

All in all, this months box has been a little disappointing size wise. I have no clue why it was called Dark Romance either when the majority of what I received was skincare! Who knows. Certainly not me!

I know some people received slightly different items than this, so what did you get? What are your thoughts on the Glossybox October 2013 offering??

Please let me know below in the comments section 🙂

Until next time! xxxx

Totally agree with your review, I’m reviewing it tomorrow and found it to be disappointing!

Yea the general consensus I have heard so far has been much the same :). I’ll keep an eye out for your take on it tomorrow!

I’m SO glad I didn’t get this box and I nearly signed up for it too as “Dark Romance” sounded great. Like, where’s the vampy lipstick and nail polish? They would have been perfect in a box like this.

I got the July Seaside Splash too – what did you think of yours? I loved mine I was hoping i’d get the sleek pout paints as I’d been lusting after them for ages so when I got two I was thrilled!

I know!! I was so expecting things like that, but not a single dark or romantic thing about it! Who names these things like?!

I loved the July box. Probably my favourite! The facial spritz is so good even though I forgot to bring it on me holliers, which was why I wanted it in the first place! I wasn’t too gone on the Pout Paint shades I got initially, but I mixed the two together and it came out quite nice! 🙂
